Condition monitoring costs less than overhaul
Most rotary vane failures announce themselves: rising noise, higher oil temperature, longer evacuation time, darkened or emulsified oil. Recording these indicators is far cheaper than waiting until the pump stops.
Six actions that matter
- Change oil by running hours or every six months; shorten in humid duty
- Replace the oil filter and clean the inlet strainer at every oil change
- Check belt tension and coupling inserts
- Run regular pressure-rise leak tests
- Use gas ballast correctly for moisture and close it when not needed
- Change oil and seal ports before long shutdowns
Keep an annual stock of vanes, seals and bearings to avoid downtime waiting for parts.
