Dry screw pump SCREWLINE SP 630
The SCREWLINE screw vacuum pump was developed to meet the specific requirements of industrial applications. When a reliable, compact, and easy-to-maintain vacuum solution is required, the innovative SP series screw pump is the first choice.
Operating principle
The screw vacuum pump is a dry-compressing backing pump whose operation is based on the screw principle. Two synchronously rotating, intermeshing screw rotors and the surrounding housing form the pumping chamber. The two rotors rotate toward each other, so the enclosed suction volume is transported steadily from the pump inlet to the discharge port, completing the pumping action. The screws are machined as a single piece and feature a variable pitch design, providing internal stage-by-stage compression. The wetted parts of the pump have a simple structure with few components, simplifying maintenance and repair.
Performance
Because the gas path through the screw pump is short and simple, the screw vacuum pump is relatively insensitive to pumped foreign matter. This ensures longer system uptime under industrial operating conditions.
The two non-contact shaft seals are wear-free, resulting in very long maintenance intervals. For standard applications, no purge gas protection is required. If the process application requires it, however, a purge gas system can be connected as an option to purge the seals.
Because the screw vacuum pump rotors use a cantilever bearing arrangement, a potential failure source—the inlet-side bearing arrangement—is completely eliminated. On the one hand, bearing lubricant cannot enter the vacuum chamber; on the other, corrosive process media cannot damage the bearings.
Another advantage of the cantilever bearing arrangement is that the pumping chamber can be opened easily and conveniently. This innovative design allows the pump housing to be opened without time-consuming and laborious removal of the bearings. As a result, all medium-contacting wetted surfaces inside the pump can be cleaned on site. Especially if the process involves large amounts of contaminants, this advantage ensures long trouble-free pump operation.
Low exhaust temperature is an important advantage of the SP screw vacuum pump. Thanks to the special design of the screw rotors, the temperature inside the SP pump does not exceed 100℃(212℉). This prevents deposits of substances that many media would form through reactions at high temperatures. This is a unique feature of the pump that many customers in the coating industry value highly.
Nevertheless, if deposits do form, the easily removable housing enables fast cleaning.
The SCREWLINE screw vacuum pump features internal oil circulation in the rotor shaft, while a fan externally cools the oil heat exchanger and housing, achieving uniform temperature balance throughout the pump. This makes it particularly suitable for variable operating conditions and ambient environments.
The SP 630F is the water-cooled version and is suitable for use in air-conditioned rooms.
The SCREWLINE screw vacuum pump series includes ATEX-certified explosion-protected versions.
The SCREWLINE screw vacuum pump series also includes a pure oxygen version (O2).
Maintenance and monitoring
The design concept of the SP screw vacuum pump gives special consideration to ease of maintenance. This is achieved through the cantilever bearing arrangement and by locating all maintenance components and controls on the service side for easy access. As a result, the space requirements in advance planning are optimized, and the small footprint of the SP gives users greater flexibility during pump installation.
The SP-GUARD monitoring system continuously monitors the operating status of the screw vacuum pump in real time. Operating parameters are continuously acquired and processed, enabling users to take preventive measures at an early stage and ensure trouble-free operation of the screw vacuum pump. Key operating parameters can be read on the pump display, and remote monitoring is possible when connected to a PLC. Maintenance of the screw vacuum pump is limited to regular visual inspection and replacement of the gear oil and oil filter every 2.5 years.
Using the flushing kit (optional), the pump chamber can be cleaned when the pump is not processing, quickly and effectively removing process deposits without dismantling the pump housing. The air/oil heat exchanger can be cleaned simply by blowing it out with compressed air on site.
Accessories
The SP screw vacuum pump offers users a high degree of flexibility. The inlet and exhaust ports can be connected using standard flanges or clamp flanges, allowing simple integration into the system. With the appropriate accessories, the pump can be adapted easily to applications with different requirements.
